I, like most Americans, were devistated when I watched the Twin Towers fall in NYC. It was live on television, and has been 'live' in thousands of American families every day since then.
I was not directly affected by the attacks. I didn't know anyone who died that morning, however I am in agreement with many of the families of the disaster that the Bush camp using images from the attacks in campaign adds is just wrong.
Using the images to stimulate public debate and discussion of public policy is one thing, using them strictly for politcal gain is reprehensible. Our President claims to be of high moral character.
I don't think so.
I agree, son. It's despicable. I'm running out of candidates to vote for in November, not that it matters who I vote for since Bush will win South Carolina with or without me.

I disagree! I will post a comment on my own blog when I have a chance. I wonder... How many buildings and places have NOT been destroyed since, because of this administrations policy? Are YOU in touch with Da-RED phone?
Wake up. That day happened on that day to ALL of the world. It was a wake-up call. To ignore that event, by that man (our President) at THAT time and now... would be an error.
I am a grateful American. Do I approve of all President Bush has done or every policy initiated... NO! Do I feel safe here in the USA, waveringly safe: YES. That shaky feeling is NOT because of this administrations errors, it is because of the neglect of past Presidents on both sides of the isle and "wierdos-out-in-the-world". Don't get me started here... but everyone thought we should do "something" after 9-11. I have posted "quotes" to document that fact on my blog (to the right, down a bit).
Be gentle, that place is tender...
"It" IS NOT a political issue, it is a fact of history. I am proud of the way, George Bush handled himself, then. Go back and look. He waited and did not jump in... when others may have rushed and bombed.
I will NEVER forget that day. I am still in a pause. I hurt for those families too. Should we forget who was on the watch then? Should we forget who had a chance before that terror-ific event and did NOTHING to stop it... hummmm?!
I don't think so. Read the history. If you need places to look I have them.
...so sorry to bend your blog, but there again maybe I am not. (HOT issue)

The terrible events of 9/11 should not be used to further anyone's ambitions, no matter who they are or what they did, or how well they may have done it. Campaigning with those images is heartrending emotional blackmail of the worst sort. Bush was merely "lucky" enough to be the man at the helm. 9/11 should not be used to widen the chasm between Republican and Democrat, because we're all Americans.
Hey, I don't get this political on my own blog.

I've added this bit of politics, because this blog's owener has opted out of political talk for a while.
If the President thinks he can use 9/11 as a proud day/week/month in his presidency, all I need to ask is "What have you done against terroism, so far?"
My answer, not much... oh, sorry we deposed a dictator who had nothing to do with the terrorist organization that we are trying to stop. Don't get me wrong, eventually the Iraqi government had to go, but it should have been done with UN leadership.
Back to terrorism. We went into Afganistan and bombed the hell out of it, chased our foe to Pakistan and stopped all work. Now, we are going back in, doing the right thing, putting troups on both sides of the border and sqeezing them into the mountains.
This should have been done months ago. If we are in a 'war' against terrorism (don't even get me started on the Patriot Act), then we need to fight terrorism, not speculative, mildly vague, connections to other countries.
