Kentucky has already announced that Joker Phillips will take over as head coach from Rich Brooks at some point.  I think we've reached that point.

Another turkey?

I took a break from watching Fred and Ginger to check in on the Dallas-Seattle game.  Sheesh.  24-6 at halftime.  It's probably proof that I'm an old fart and don't keep up with pop culture but who the hell are the Jonas Brothers?  They look too wholesome to be true.

Woo Hoo!

This is the warmest the house has been since the heat pump died! I may have to shed a layer or two.

The real Thanksgiving turkey?

I rarely watch NFL games but surely the NFL and CBS could have served up something better than Tennessee (10-1) vs Detroit (0-11).  The last time I checked the score on Yahoo Sports it was 28-3 Tennessee 40 seconds into the 2nd quarter.  No doubt that it will get uglier.

Today I am thankful that I have a large DVD collection, some of which I've been saving for days like this  (Fred and Ginger, William and Myrna, and more William and Myrna) and the rest of which I wouldn't mind watching again.

A sign of the times?

Every year the Thanksgiving Day newspaper is tossed onto driveways in two overstuffed plastic bags - one for the paper and one for all of the Black Friday inserts.  I don't get the paper but when I went out this morning to get Ms. Hilda's paper and place it by her front door I saw that this year there is just one bag and that it's no heavier than the Sunday paper, with it's inserts, usually is.

Doing my bit to save the planet while tanking the US economy

Tuesday is trash pickup day in my neighborhood.  It struck me as I was looking at the containers lining the streets this morning while Champ and I were on our walk that since the beginning of the year I only wheel mine to the curb once every 3 weeks.  One reason is that Justine is in Australia and filling their landfills.  The main reason, though, is that I don't buy as much stuff as I used to buy.  Justine moves back home at Christmas but sometime early next year she'll find a job and move into her own place.  After that my goal will be to put the trash out once every 4 weeks.
