Champ was crossing his legs and hopping up and down so I figured I’d better take him outside to pee. As soon as he’d done that he saw Lisa, the absentee landlord who owns the rental house next to mine, and strained at the leash to go see her. While I was talking to Lisa about her plans for the house (I wish she’d sell it so that I could have a permanent neighbor) Champ saw the FUDs next to the lake and somehow backed out of his collar and chased after them. At that point I knew that all I could do was sit back, watch, and hope for the best. There were three FUDs and, one-by-one, Champ chased each of them into the lake. Then he launched himself into the lake after them. It’s a good thing that he can swim because I wasn’t planning on giving him mouth-to-mouth. Once he realized that he couldn’t catch the FUDs he climbed back up the bank. He ran around in circles for a few minutes but eventually he succumbed to my promises of treats. (Treats = Beggin’ Strips.) Once back in the house I had to deal with a wet, smelly dog. Try as I might I couldn’t push him into the bathtub so I had to strip down and drag him in with me. I used Suave Daily Clarifying shampoo with “deep cleansers for normal to oily hair” to take out the stink. Now his hair is as soft as mine is.
